FINDING A BRIDAL BOUTIQUE IN LIVERPOOLFinding a bridal boutique in liverpool

The most rewarding (and sometimes scary) part of your wedding planning is finding a bridal boutique and your perfect wedding dress. You’re wedding wont seem real until the moment you pull back the curtain, look in the mirror and realise that all your planning as a child (Ken & Barbie have a lot to answer for) has paid of, you look like a princess and the dress you’re wearing fits in all the right places. At least this is how your dress fitting should pan out, dresses rarely fit the first time and require alterations or additions but hopefully that wont dampen your spirit. Before you organise your fitting you first need to find a bridal boutique / bridal dress shop / bridal salon.

The name of the shop is of little relevance, the one thing they all have in common is that they supply bridal dresses / gowns. Bridal Shops are similar to brides themselves, they come in all shapes, sizes and colours. The myth that only the rich can afford to get married is wrong, there is an overwhelming number of bridal shops that exist in one area alone. Not only do the bridal shops vary enormously they also cater for different styles and budgets. In the retail world a small holding shop is usually associated with one of two statuses;

  • A small bridal shop can mean that they are a specialised bridal-wear shop and the prices will reflect this.
  • It could also mean that they are an independent bridal-wear shop catering for smaller budgets and supplying other bridal-wear such as bridesmaid dresses and attire for attending guests.

Like a lot of things in life don’t judge a book by its cover, always stop by, even if it’s just to browse for ideas. If the dresses are out of your price range ask if there are any models from a previous year which maybe heavily discounted, don’t forget to ask for advice….after all its free!

One of the main factors to consider when scouting for bridal wear shops is to calculate your travelling distance. After a fitting you maybe able to have your dress delivered but don’t forget problems can arise last-minute. Its far easier to travel to a bridal wear shop within a forty mile radius, ideally even closer. Not only does this require less travelling time, it also means that when W-day is approaching you can visit in person to put pressure on the staff to have your dress ready in time.

Now you have a taste for finding a bridal boutique, here are some tips to help you short-list the contenders.Finding a bridal boutique in liverpool

  1. Don’t judge a book by its cover, you could miss an absolute gem.
  2. Calculate the greatest distance you’re willing to travel and short-list those bridal boutiques within your catchment area.
  3. Determine your budget – this should include all your bridal wear such as the dress, veil (optional), shoes, alterations, delivery and cleaning.
  4. Always haggle – If your don’t try to reduce the cost then you’re the one loosing out. Those smaller boutiques who cater for smaller budgets may offer larger discounts if you buy multiple items at once such as the bridesmaid dresses and your mothers outfit.
  5. When you have chosen a dress get a second and third opinion, if you’re all in consensus sleep on the idea. Purchasing a dress on a whim will cost you more than you’re willing to lose, take your time.
  6. After putting down a deposit ask for the final price inclusive of alterations etc, always find out how many alterations are included in the price.
  7. Visit as many shops as your time allows, they may provide that inspiration you’re looking for.
  8. After visiting a shop grade them based on the following criteria – they are spacious, have lots of available light (either window light or bright spotlights), they have a large selection available, they have a large number of full length mirrors and  the staff are as friendly as they are knowledgeable.
